Public bus

Use the Trafiku Urban app (Android & iOS) for real-time routes, schedules and stations. Digital tickets bought in the app are cheaper than paper tickets.

  • One way: €0.80 paper / €0.60 digital
  • Daily: €1.20 paper / €1.00 digital
  • Weekly: €6.00 paper / €5.00 digital
  • Monthly: €18.00 paper / €14.50 digital

Daily, weekly and monthly tickets are valid on all Prishtina municipality lines.

Taxi

Affordable and easy to use. We recommend E-Taxi: estimate fares, order, schedule and track rides via the app. Other options: Online Taxi, Taxi Tesla, Blue Taxi, Pink Taxi, City Taxi.

Bike Prishtina

A public bicycle system with multiple stations around the city.

  • First 30 minutes: free
  • After: approx. €0.50 per hour

Airport

Prishtina International Airport is approximately 20 to 30 minutes away.

  • Airport bus (approximately every 2 hours): around €3
  • Taxi: approximately €12 to €20 depending on traffic and time of day

Car rental

Sunny Hill Rent a Car is available directly through us if you prefer to drive yourself, useful for day trips and trailheads outside the city.

Money, language & power

Currency & payments

The currency is the Euro (€). Cards are accepted in most places. Withdrawing cash with a foreign card at an ATM typically costs around €5 depending on the bank. Small businesses may prefer cash.

Language

Albanian is the local language. English is widely spoken in cafés, restaurants and shops.

Electricity

European plugs (Type C & F), 230V. Short electricity interruptions can occasionally happen during busy seasons, but they are usually resolved quickly.

Drinking water

Tap water in Prishtina is generally safe to drink. Bottled water is widely available in supermarkets and convenience stores.

SIM cards & mobile internet

Local SIM & eSIM

Local SIM cards are available at the airport and in Vala or IPKO shops across the city. Typical packages range between €5 and €10 and may include mobile data, local minutes and internet. Both operators support eSIM depending on your phone.

Delivery apps

Wolt is widely used in Prishtina for food, groceries and restaurant delivery, covering most restaurants, cafés, bakeries and supermarkets.

Safety

Prishtina is generally a safe city for visitors, including during evening hours in central areas. Most apartments are in quiet residential neighbourhoods.

Weather

Summers are usually hot and sunny, winters can be cold with occasional snow. Spring and autumn are mild and comfortable for walking.

Check live waiting times and traffic conditions at Kosovo border crossings before travelling by car to neighbouring countries.

Crossing into Serbia

Travellers entering Kosovo from Albania or North Macedonia may sometimes face entry restrictions when crossing directly into Serbia. Those who first entered the region via Serbia usually have no issue. Rules can change, so please confirm with official border authorities before travelling.

Café culture & rhythm of the city

Prishtina is very walkable and cafés are an important part of local life. Sundays are quieter, but most cafés and restaurants stay open. Traffic can be heavier around the centre during busy hours.
